The DMIR Lab at USK’s Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences buzzed with excitement this morning as graduate students of the AI Master’s Program gathered for the inaugural guest‑lecture series, “ComVisTalk #1.” The event was jointly organized by COMVIS Lab‑USK and the Master’s Program in Artificial Intelligence.

The session opened at 08:30 a.m. (WIB) with welcoming remarks from Dr. Kahlil—founder of COMVIS Lab and lecturer for the Computer Vision course. He underlined the pivotal role of computer‑vision research in helping Indonesia achieve its Net‑Zero emissions target.

Joining virtually from Taiwan, Dr. Isack Farady (Assistant Professor, Vision and Intelligent Computing Lab, Yuan Ze University) delivered the keynote talk, “Seeing Our Way to Net‑Zero with Computer Vision.”, the talk sparked lively engagement.

Moderated by Dr. Kahlil, the Q&A session challenged students to connect classroom theory with real‑world Net‑Zero applications, Dr. Farady emphasized cross‑disciplinary collaboration and open‑source datasets as accelerators of impactful research. “Thank you, Asst. Prof. Isack Farady Yuan-Ze University for delivering a guest lecture in my Computer Vision class! The topicis very interesting and inspiring. This day marks the final meeting in my class, and fortunately, all students physically attended the class (from Sawah Lunto Padang, Medan, Tangerang and Aceh)” – Dr. Kahlil, Lecturer of Computer Vision.

With insights from an international expert and hands‑on discussion, USK’s AI graduate students are now better equipped to weave computer‑vision innovations into sustainable solutions. Stay tuned for the next installment of ComVisTalk!
