The Master Program in Artificial Intelligence, part of the Data Science and Artificial Intelligence (DS&AI) Erasmus+ Program at Universitas Syiah Kuala (USK), held a Professional Training on Machine Learning for three days, 25-27 November 2021, virtually. Prof. Dr. Ir. Samadi, M.Sc., the Program Coordinator, mentioned that the Professional Training on Machine Learning is aimed to provide the participants with deep insight and understanding of Machine Learning that includes the concepts, data preparation, and algorithms to train models. This Professional Training activity was divided into two sessions: the morning session at 09:00 – 11:00 and the afternoon session at 14:00 – 16:00.
The instructors of this professional Training are Professors from Universitas Syiah Kuala:
- Prof. Taufik Fuadi Abidin, S.Si., M.Tech., taught about the Machine Learning Concept and the Steps in Machine Learning Project or Methodology.
- Dr. Nizamuddin, S.Si., M.Info.Sc., delivered material about Machine Learning Library Data Analysis and Visualization.
- Mr. Rahmad Dawood, S.Kom., M.Sc., IPM., ASEAN.Eng. discussed Data Preparation, which includes Feature Selection.
- Mr. Alim Misbullah, S.Si., M.S., shared the Modeling and Evaluation Machine Learning Algorithm, cased of Supervised Learning.
- Dr. Muhammad Subianto, S.Si., M.Si delivered materials about Machine Learning Algorithm: Unsupervised Learning Deployment and Challenge in Machine Learning.
Participants in the Professional Training Machine Learning training activity consisted of various government and industrial institutions such as the Aceh Oil and Gas Management Agency, staffs from North Sumatra University, Multimedia Nusantara Polytechnic, Airlangga University, Non-Agencies/Industry, UTJ, Payakumbuh Technological College, Sultan University Ageng Tirtayasa and Lion Air. At the end of the training, all participants were given a test to evaluate their understanding based on the teaching materials taught. Participants who pass will receive a graduation certificate from Leiden University, Netherlands.
The DS&AI program is an activity that involves consortium partners in Asia (Thailand, Indonesia, Sri Lanka) and Europe (Netherlands, Greece, Portugal). The consortium includes the Asian Institute of Technology (AIT), Leiden University (LEU), Skybridge, University of Minho (UMI), Athens University of Economics and Business (AUEB), University of Sri Jayewardenepura (USJP), University of Peradeniya (UoP), Universitas Syiah Kuala (USK) North Sumatra University (USU), Bandung Institute of Technology (ITB), Khon Kaen University (KKU), and Walailak University. Universitas Syiah Kuala so far has participated in 6 Erasmus+ activities, i.e., EXPERTS Program, INDOPED, SPIRE, S-FARM, DS&AI, and IND 4.0.
